How it works

Where prices come from

Posted by the vendor. A vendor signs in and enters its regular cash or check price for a normal will-call delivery (you call when you need fuel), with no plan. We rank only these, lowest first, and show when each was posted. If a vendor has not confirmed a price recently, we say so and do not rank it.

Our phone survey. When a vendor has not posted, we sometimes call and write down the cash price it quotes. We show it for seven days and never rank it.

Reported by customers. Neighbors tell us what they actually paid on a delivery and how they paid. People on a budget, prepay or automatic-delivery plan often pay a different price, so we show those separately. Customer reports are never mixed into the posted prices.

About customer reports

* These prices were reported by customers, not confirmed by the vendor. They are not guaranteed and your price may be different.

For vendors: how listings and disputes work

  • Every vendor is listed from public business information: name, town, phone, website, fuels and service area. A listing alone does not mean the vendor has joined, checked anything, or endorsed the Oil Board.
  • We remove a listing only when the business has closed, does not deliver in this region, or was listed in error. We do not remove a listing on request alone.
  • Claiming your listing is free. Claim it, and once we have checked by phone or email that you work there, you can correct your details, set your fuels, whose propane tanks you fill and your service area, and choose whether to post prices.
  • Customers can only enter numbers, dates and choices: no free-text reviews or comments. Every report shows its date, gallons, how it was paid, the plan and whether it was checked.
  • If a report on your listing looks wrong, sign in and use “Dispute this report” on that row. Pick a reason: duplicate, not our company, wrong price, or a special circumstance such as an emergency fill, a small delivery or an old contract. The report shows “Under review” and is left out of every average and range until we decide. We then either remove it, or keep it with your one-line response shown under it.
  • Takedown and correction requests go to the address in the footer of every page. We reply within five business days. Our policy is to remove, on receipt, anything that is the subject of a court order, a mix-up between two businesses, or content that is defamatory.
